One of the Best Books I have read as an adult

When I went to the seminary this was a book one of my professors recommended so I got it and read through it in a couple of hours and was amazed at how in-depth this book is for as small as it is. The first time I read this book was in 1993 and I have read it at least once a year since then. Sometimes I have misplaced the tiny paperback and get upset when I can't find it. I was really pleased when this came out for the kindle and I was able to get it for free. If you are a spiritual person you will want to read this book and believe me it is a quick read and very enlightening. If you put the practices of Brother Lawrence to work in your own spiritual life you will experience a deeper commitment and understanding of God. I recommend this book to people of all ages and suggest that if you have read it once read it again. Every time I read it I find a new jewel of wisdom I can grab onto and grow closer to God.

A short discussion of this book was presented in "Love Says Go" by Jason Chin and it piqued my interest. "The Practice of the Presence of God" is absolutely the most wonderful and inspiring testimony of one who placed his complete trust in God and communicated with Him at a level that many of us today would find beyond our reach today; but is it? I am finding that it is not, although I dare say that I could achieve his level of humility and persistent faith.

The book is not so much written by Brother Lawrence as it is a compilation of letters, thoughts, and finally a short biography written by a dear friend. The thoughts of Brother Lawrence span the centuries since they were first penned but they are messages that encourage, heal, and inspire the believer today. I have read it and keep pulling it off the shelf for encouragement.

Short read but powerful

This is a classic that I hadn't read before. But I'm glad that I read it now. Brother Lawrence doesn't advocate anything that is complicated, which I believe we too often try to make being in God's presence. Instead, there's a beauty in the simplicity of the practices he advocates. It's not a long read, but it's definitely good.

One-dimensional

To vague with no world building. Sometimes it was hard to follow. For instances, Garin was hurt in a crash and couldn't move. Even though he healed at an accelerated rate, (about 12 hrs.) they seemed to have sex right after the crash. The other thing about this short read, it has 77 pages. What you don't know is that it's doubled spaced, so it's really not that long.

Alien Lord's Captive is a spicy Scifi Alien Abduction story about Marie Cassidy, who is in the hands of an Alien Lord called Garin. To get there on planet Venari she has left her life on earth behind. But she never expected to experience anything of this. As she now is in the hands of the most feared Alien on the planed she is in a hopeless position, but also attracted to him in a strange way. I received a free copy in exchange for my opinion. If you are into these kind of stories. Risa Rills has written a fantastic book for you, as it is past paced, exiting and introduces you a whole new world. The book only has 77 pages, so it's a quick read and perfect for a time-out from reality.

This book is pleasantly surprising first one i've read from this Author Risa Rills they've done a great job at capturing her audience were you just got to keep on turning pages till the end this book is a real page turner for sure ! i have received arc for my honest opinion i'm glad i did the characters were right on point you understand what's going on and whats coming next and of course a little romance and some hot spicy sex of course! recommended!

Great Dermatopathology book

I am a current Dermatology resident and my program uses Rapini as our core study book, but I have learned the most from Dr. Soeprano's book. I believe this book is fantastic. It has a well thought out approach to organizing pathologies. It is patterns based. The true beauty of this book however is it's wonderful images with great arrows pointing out critical findings. It also includes 4 DVD's with countless images that are extremely high quality. They can be viewed in low to high power, which allows you to get the actual feel of how a diagnosis looks under a microscope rather than just focusing on a small picture in a book. This has been invaluable to me. I have also been able to use many of the high quality photos in various presentations.

Excellent book - love the systemic approach, differential diagnoses, and arrows pointing to descriptions - the virtual slides are a great adjunct, as well. It has many photos that other dermatopathology books lack. This book is a must have!

Good source for the Latin

It is helpful to have an inexpensive edition of the Latin Meditations. The painfully literal English "translation" that accompanies it in this volume may serve as a handy vocabulary crib, but by itself is unreadable-- although generally reliable. Curiously, even the translator's own introduction does not reveal a more comfortable writing style: sentences grow into paragraphs, and paragraphs swell into pages. Parenthetical expressions are occasionally embedded three-deep, and the subject matter vacillates between textual trivia and attempts at profundity.
Unusable as an undergraduate text, but thanks for the Latin!

Be careful!

Be Careful! This is NOT the translation described in the Amazon reviews. It is a the unreadable one by Heffernan. This edition is useful only for its Latin text. The facing English can be used as an aid to the reader, but is often so stiff and convoluted as to be unreadable as English. The fifty-page introduction is full of trivia and misinterpretations. The volume is quite justifiably out of print!

Descartes's _Meditations_ were his greatest work and this edition allows the assiduous student to read it in the original Latin. His ideas are not often accepted wholesale today, and to our modern and postmodern ears they might sound crude and naive. Nevertheless, Descartes's role as an originator of argumentative style and discourse is of gargantuan importance to the development of early modern philosophy. A great book.

Angels at Rest is Arresting!

Although this is Ms. Mulcahy's first novel, you would never be able to tell. From the first page to the last, you are drawn into a suspenseful plot filled with turns and unpredicatble twists. It's a page turner (or page swiper in your Kindle) and you want to learn more and more about subjects ranging from ricin poisoning to pathology to human cruelty (and kindness).

As you read, you get to know the characters and why they are determined to do what is right. And Mulchay weaves her plot teaching us that what is "right" remains in the eye of the beholder. In addition, Angels at Rest beautifully choreographs two major and complex story lines - gracefully intersecting its characters and plots when you least expect them.

Readers are now waiting for Mulcahy's next novel to see what her main character, FBI Agent, Sassy Steiner, will so brilliantly unfold!

A great first book

I totally enjoyed this book. The author weaves many important issues of the day-terrorism, political corruption, privacy vs security, abuse-into a spellbinding page-turner of a who-done-it. Can you guess? I found it a great read and can't wait for the next book from this creative, skilled writer.

Angels At Rest a Thought Provoking Thriller

A nail biting thriller that takes the reader from Washington DC to the famed Northwest Territories on manhunt of a lifetime for Special Agent. Her skills are incredible as seeks to find the mastermind behind the terrorist attack at the U.S. Senate building. After I finished the book I purchased a copy of Angels At Rest for an early birthday gift for a friend. A must read at the beach this summer!!! I love Special Agent-in-Charge Steiner (nickname Sassy) what a amazing character.

Projects for curtains, rugs, and accessories include descriptions of period furnishings, charts, patterns, and photos of the finished items in a dollhouse setting. These are cleverly designed needlework miniatures that add an authentic touch to period rooms and would be collectible in their own right by needlework enthusiasts. Highly recommended for public libraries.

Excellent resource

I highly recommend "Dollhouse Decor: Creating Soft Furnishings in 1/12 Scale" to anyone interested in furnishing dollhouses or just at looking at pictures of how others have furnished theirs. The Forder's book is arranged by periods of style, and goes into a bit of detail about what makes each period's style unique. The projects are designed for all skill levels, from those who work best with a bit of glue and a pair of scissors, to those who enjoy doing their own weaving. Each project is preceded by a symbol to let the reader know the level of skill required. Yet regardless of the level, all the projects are well explained.
Equally enjoyable is the photography. There are none of the grainy pictures that are so annoying in some dollhouse books. Each photograph is large and clear, and shows the meticulous level of detail that the Forders put into their work.
